Among the first palms I planted on moving to Florida was a Chinese fan palm, then known as "Chinese fountain palm" because of its broad, deeply split leaves that feature gracefully drooping segments.

SUN SIGNS: Most palms prefer a full sun to part sun situation, but a few tolerate or prefer some shade, including the native dwarf palmetto, Chinese fan palm, lady palm and bamboo palm.
