Officials in Metro Detroit are reporting downed power lines and outages as storms invade Southeast Michigan Tuesday afternoon.

As utilities wait for approval on new power plants and transmission lines, they may prevent other large economic development projects from advancing.

Starting in May, ITC began conducting aerial patrols of transmission lines in Michigan. According to a community announcement, the inspections will run through Monday, June 30, weather permitting.
