LEAD: Sammy Davis Sr., a vaudeville performer and the father of the entertainer Sammy Davis Jr., died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 87 years old.

Sammy Davis, Jr., also known as Mr. Entertainment, was an award-winning, versatile, accomplished singer, dancer, actor, and musician, who passed on May 16th, 1990.
