The Mount Vernon area got a special valentine on Feb. 14 when The Cut, a new European-style butchery opened in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center.

Storms blew through the Mount Vernon area last week causing trees to topple along the parkway and the surrounding neighborhoods causing two fatalities when trees came down on top of occupied cars.
