The Met Office says that towards the end of the period August 3 to August 12, there is “an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant”. On X, they wrote: "Storm Floris is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain for parts of the UK from Monday.

The Met Office has shared advice on how to stay safe in a storm, as amber and yellow wind warnings are in place. The Met Office amber wind warning will be in place until 23:00 on August 4, covering Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, the Orkney Islands, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders and Strathclyde.

The Met Office has issued two weather warnings across the UK as Storm Floris approaches, bringing with it heavy rainfall and powerful winds reaching up to 85 mph. The warnings, now active, are already affecting transport services with areas including Conwy, Gwynedd and Isle of Anglesey affected.
