Pikes Peak State Park in McGregor, Iowa, ranked 95th out of 125 different state parks in the country, according to MaxTour. It beat out parks in Oregon, Maine and Vermont.

Lake Anita State Park was constructed in the 1960s making it one of Iowa's newer state parks. The artificial lake is 171 acres big offering largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and more for fishing.

The Iowa Workers Memorial Day service featured 45 crosses, one for each public employee who died on the job in 2024. The event was held at Union Labor Park in Des Moines on April 28, 2025.
