"With Charizard there will be only one Mega Energy and then trainers will be able to choose if they want to apply it to X or Y," Laura Warner, Senior Game Designer for Pokémon Go, told Newsweek.

Unlike Mega Charizard Y, Mega Charizard X changes types when it Mega Evolves. It changes from a Fire- and Flying-type Pokemon to a Fire- and Dragon-type Pokemon.

Mega Charizard X can be unlocked by obtaining Charizardite X in Pokemon X. Notably, transforming into Mega Charizard X makes the creature change type, from a Fire-Flying type to a Fire-Dragon type.
