McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said Mosqueda unleashed "dozens of rounds at the entrance of the facility shortly before 6 a.m. and U.S. Border Patrol agents returned fire," Reuters reported.
The Border Patrol station is 2.5 miles from the McAllen International Airport. Rodriguez said road closures near the airport resulted in a stall in air traffic.
