NEW YORK (AP) — Mathew Barzal scored 21 seconds into overtime, Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves and the New York Islanders rallied to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Thursday night.

Goalie Ilya Sorokin made 35 saves. Toronto captain John Tavares tied the game on the power play with 4:48 left in the third period, redirecting a Morgan Rielly shot from the slot.

Islanders' Mathew Barzal suffers a lower-body injury, sidelining him indefinitely. Defenseman Scott Mayfield is also day-to-day with a similar injury.

It didn’t come the way the Islanders wanted, but Ilya Sorokin finally got a rest. That came as a result of a mercy pull for the final 20 minutes.
