Cheektowaga Maryvale Union Free School District paid $8.4 million to settle five Child Victims Act lawsuits alleging sexual abuse of students in the 1970s by a music teacher.

A graduate of Maryvale High School, Michalski grew up on George Urban Boulevard. He continued his studies at SUNY Oswego, where he would meet his future wife, Susan, a Long Island native.
