A Marriott hotel in the Czech Republic has reportedly declined to host a conference of activists from China’s oppressed Uighur community citing a desire to maintain “political neutrality.” ...

The Montgomery County Conference Center employs about 140 people, according to a Marriott spokesperson. It’s also a venue frequently used by local lawmakers and political groups for events.

The Marriott hotel in Prague refused to host a conference this month aimed at drawing attention to alleged human rights abuses in China, the hotel chain confirmed to CNN on Friday.

The federation also hosted a forum with law enforcement in 2020. Starting in 2023, the group began hosting a conference at the Marriott in Coral Springs.

Last year, the South Florida Muslim Federation held their first annual conference at the Coral Springs Marriott. The event went on without a hitch, said Kakli, and was attended by nearly 1,000 people.
