Seattle Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said the club plans to be "aggressive" in pursuing a bullpen arm at the trade deadline.
"Third baseman Eugenio Suarez is almost certain to be traded," Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic wrote. "Another potential free agent, outfield Randal Grichuk also is expected to move," he added. He also reported that pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly are less likely to be moved because of a pitching shortage.
Industry sources say the Mariners and Diamondbacks have engaged in preliminary discussions about Eugenio Suarez, a candidate for the National League MVP.
