Five states are under a “red flag warning” due to hot, dry and unstable conditions. Wildfires in Canada are also affecting the air quality in U.S.

With 174 active wildfires burning across Canada, several U.S. states are under air quality alerts due to the traveling smoke from these flames.

According to the interagency center, U.S. firefighters were deployed to Canada on May 8, a month before wildfire smoke began drifting across the border and throughout the Northeast U.S.
