Pale Male, a red-tailed hawk that spent decades nested atop buildings on Manhattan's bustling Fifth Avenue, has died. He was believed to be 33 years old.

Pale Male had never been banded and had no identifying tag. If the hawk was indeed Pale Male, he had lived to be over 32 years old. A red-tailed hawk’s average life span is about 20 years.
