At Santa Monica's Main Street Community Garden, each plot bears the mark of its tenant. In the southwest corner, an aesthete's low wooden fence matches the stain of twin soil beds enclosed within it.

Part of Boston's iconic Boylston Street was flooded and closed Friday near Arlington Station and the Public Garden. A break in the 12-inch main caused the water to bubble up through the pavement.
