This was Vonn’s first World Cup podium spot since March 15, 2018, when she finished third in a super-G in Are, Sweden. Vonn came out of retirement this season after a partial knee replacement.
The 40-year-old retired from skiing in 2019 due to her knee pain. Vonn had a partial knee replacement four years later, but she didn’t start teasing the end of her retirement until September 2024.
She retired from the sport in February 2019 but announced last year she would be returning to the slopes after undergoing a successful partial knee replacement in April 2024.
