MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. (KIFI) - On Monday in the early evening, a major windstorm and rain event impacted the southern portion of Yellowstone National Park, primarily in the Lake Village area.
The incident happened about 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the Lake Village area of the park. A 47-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, was gored when he got too close to a bison, NPS said in a news release .
It happened at Lake Village, near Yellowstone Lake. Yellowstone National Park has recorded the year's first violent encounter between a visitor and bison, just weeks into the busy summer season.
The incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. in the Lake Village area, according to a park press release. The man sustained minor injuries and was treated by emergency medical personnel.
