OCONEE Co., SC (WSPA) – A popular spot on Lake Keowee is getting some safety improvements after 20 drowning deaths in nearly as many years.
People who live on Lake Keowee said it’s getting more popular as the weather warms up, but residents said they’re concerned about boater safety, especially at night.
He said someone called 911 about 5:25 p.m. to report the incident as a possible drowning. Criswell was pulled from the lake by bystanders in a depth of water estimated at 8 feet, according to Addis.
