An armed man was killed after exchanging fire with law enforcement officers at a Texas Border Patrol facility on July 7, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to USA TODAY.

Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter. Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured, including one shot in the knee. All three have gone to the hospital.

The shooter, who has since been identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, planned the attack on Border Patrol agents stationed at the Rio Grande Valley annex, Fox News reports.
