WoodyFest takes place on or around the late, great folk troubadour Woody Guthrie's July 14 birthday and celebrates his legacy and music.

The Woody Guthrie Festival has begun and will continue into the weekend in the famed artist's hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Legislature approved a bill by Rep. Dale Turner, D-Holdenville, in 2001 to make "The Oklahoma Hills" by Guthrie and his cousin, Jack Guthrie, the official state folk song.

The three-star wide receiver for Heritage Hills is bound for Oklahoma.
