And the view from the top of the hill, too. Don't bother: Renting a car. It's easier, and much more fun, to take either the train or the footpath between the five cities of the Cinque Terra.
The towns, a three- or four-hour train ride from Milan, each have their own character. The northernmost village of Monterosso has the sandy beach.
Those visiting Cinque Terre will definitely be able to relax in the smaller villages, including Vernazza. This village is home to many different historical sites, including Doria Castle.
