The Indianapolis Zoo has acquired two small properties west of the facility’s existing 64-acre footprint and earmarked them for possible future use.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo said goodbye to its 32-year-old Asiatic black bear, Beezler, over the weekend, according to a news release.

A zebra named Samantha died in “a tragic accident” during a storm at Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village in Providence, Rhode Island, the zoo said.

Beezler, a 32-year-old Asiatic black bear that had lived at Colorado’s Cheyenne Mountain Zoo since she was a cub, was euthanized on Sunday, zoo officials said.
