Australia's first series victory in Sri Lanka since 2011 is a timely boost for a team that will be defending their World Test Championship (WTC) title in the final against South Africa in June.

Australia hammered Sri Lanka in the second and final Test match to clean sweep the series 2-0. With the win, Australia completed a perfect WTC cycle, where they held every single bilateral trophy in the red-ball format.

Australia finally conquered Sri Lanka after a siege lasting eight days over two Test matches. It means they will head to the world Test championship final as firm favourites.
