As of 6 p.m. Friday, nearly 1,200 residents in Appomattox County remain without power following a severe ice storm.
Warmer temperatures helped melt some of the snow and ice left by a recent storm, but thousands of folks in Powhatan County are still without electricity.
CBS 6 spoke to a licensed professional engineer at the beginning of the water crisis and shared public records requests with him to get a better understanding of what may have happened.
That’s on top of a $25,000 contribution from Mayor Danny Avula’s political action committee, plus nearly a week’s worth of donations from members of the public.
"The poles used to be along the edge of the river and until they had the road far enough along to get new poles in, we couldn't get any power, there was no way to get it to us," Diane Merz said.
