Hotel employee falls for package scam The hotel is out $338 after an employee took the money from the register believing they were doing so on the owner's instructions.
The Charleston-based hospitality firm the Montford Group and real estate investment partner Opterra Capital recently broke ground on a 131-room hotel that will be under the Marriott flag Moxy.
A 34-room hotel, a restaurant and villas are proposed for a 9.7-acre tract at 4401 William Penn Highway. The complex, called "Amaya," is still in the earliest phase of land development.
Hotel furnishings, fixtures and equipment would add $12.49 million to the total. Interest costs during construction, debt service reserves and contingencies add up to nearly $7.4 million.
