Historic Building in Kernersville, NC, Destroyed by Fire May 27, 2025 A cleaning crew had left before the fire was observed in the 1897 structure, according to the Kernersville assistant fire marshal.

The fire department said the building was released back to its property owners around 10 a.m. on Sunday. Kernersville Fire Rescue said no injuries have been reported.

The fire completely destroyed the top of the three-story building, which has a rich history in downtown Kernersville. The structure opened over 100 years ago, back in 1897, as an old mill.
