Toys 'R' Us has been in business supplying toys to children since 1948, but business was not always smooth. The toy store filed for bankruptcy in 2018, closing all of its stores in the process.

“Toys’R’Us is a cultural touchstone that continues impacting the child in all of us today,” said Story Kitchen co-founders Dmitri M. Johnson & Mike Goldberg, announcing the project.
