Hmara, a retired colonel from the U.S. Army and a village resident for over 20 years, is the first person elected mayor in Royal Palm Beach since Fred Pinto won the job more than 12 years ago.

The village did not specify how the mayor died but said it will be releasing more information this morning. Pinto served on the Council, Group 4, for the village of Royal Palm Beach in March 2003.
