By year's end, Wawa expects to have 10 stores across North Carolina. The Kill Devil Hills store is the first of 80 planned stores in the state over the next decade.

As of May 16 there is one Wawa location in N.C., in Dare County at 1900 Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. The company plans to continue expanding throughout the state.

The first store will open Thursday in Kill Devil Hills, with additional outlets planned for Rocky Mount, Elizabeth City, Greenville, Wilson and Goldsboro by the end of 2024.
