Now that the election is over, there is some good news, no matter who you voted for the bombardment of television, radio, social media and internet ads is over.
That's because in 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled any law that restricts yard signs based on their content (for example, restricting only political signs) is unconstitutional.
In smaller races, yard signs can be an effective way to get a new candidate’s name out, Potholm said. But they tend to have limited results for larger and more established campaigns.
Under Ohio law, political yard signs can't be placed in the public right-of-way, which often includes tree lawns. This only applies to roads outside of cities and other municipal areas, however.
