Fossil Creek, a popular recreation area in central Arizona that's known for its natural swimming pools and other recreational opportunities will reopen to the public on Nov. 3.

A 14-mile dirt road winds around the creek, which is accessible by Route 260 near Camp Verde. The idyllic spot has mountains, valleys and tree canopies.

Via Camp Verde: From central Phoenix, take Interstate 17 north to Camp Verde (Exit 287). Go east on State Route 260 for about 10 miles to Fossil Creek Road (Forest Road 708).
