Philip Christensen, who served with the Fort Smith Fire Department (FSFD) for over 30 years, died on Feb. 11, 2023, at the age of 54. Christensen joined the department in May 1992.

FORT SMITH -- The city's Fire Department lost 217 years' worth of experience in 2024 due to retirements and resignations, the Board of Directors learned Tuesday during a study session.
