Menards has started demolition on part of the Griffith Park Plaza that had long been anchored by Kmart, clearing away vacant storefronts to start reshaping Griffith's largest shopping hub.

The tank has been sandblasted and is being prepared for a rededication at Griffith's Central Park on Sept. 11.
