Japan has demanded China stop flying its fighter jets abnormally close to Japanese intelligence-gathering aircraft, which it said was happening repeatedly and could cause a collision.

In March, the company said it received two contracts worth $3.3 million for landing and arresting gear components for the U.S. Navy's E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.

In particular, Northrop's E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft provides combat management, air and missile defense, and multiple sensor fusion capabilities in an airborne system.

The E-7 also has the advantage of more operator stations, with Australian aircraft having 10 and space for four more, while the smaller fuselage of the E-2 only has three.

The E-2 also doesn't use the Air Force's in-flight refueling method which uses a "boom" flown by an operator into a receptacle on the receiving aircraft.
