Dynamax forms of Latios and Latias are flying into Pokemon Go for a special Max Battle Weekend from July 26-27. The legendary Pokemon will appear as five-star Max Battle bosses throughout the event.

The arrival of Max Battles, however, on Tuesday 10th September 2024 saw the Gen 1 starter Pokémon gain Dynamax Pokémon and, going forwards, more Dynamax Pokémon will be released into Pokémon Go.

So far, Dynamax Pokemon can only be used in Max Battles. This does not make them very useful in the eyes of players who are uninterested in this new type of raid.

Dynamax Latios can be challenged in 5-star Max Battles between 6 am and 9 pm on July 26 and 27, 2025. The entry cost for these fights is 800 MP (and a Remote Raid Pass, if you are joining remotely).

Dynamax Latias and Latios can also be Shiny, so players who encounter one after the Raid battle is over have a 100% chance to get them, as Shiny Raid Pokemon are a guaranteed catch.
