Famed radio oddball Dr. Demento, aka Barrett Hansen, has finally withdrawn from the airwaves after some 40 years of broadcasting novelties, rarities, humorous pieces and other audio detritus.

One of those getting his start on Dr. Demento's show was the modern-day master of parody songs, "Weird Al" Yankovic. In the mid-1970s the show was heard from coast to coast through a syndication deal.
