Democratic governors in blue states—including New York’s Kathy Hochul, California’s Gavin Newsom, and Illinois’ J.B. Pritzker—have offered safe haven and political backing to the lawmakers who fled Texas. Hochul appeared with a group of them Monday in Albany and called the GOP’s redistricting effort a “modern-day stagecoach heist.”
