It's been a slow return to seven days, and the Chicago Park District’s pool season will be short this year, ending just before Chicago Public Schools students return Aug. 18.

Chicago’s public schools, which many lifeguards attend, start Aug. 18. The park district has struggled in recent years to attract lifeguards, but has made some inroads, officials said.
