Morton Grove resident Sandra Block, OD, is using the title character in the Disney/Pixar animated film “Elio,” which was released June 20, 2025, to call attention to children’s eye health.

Even before the film opened to a record low for the studio, Pixar was in the midst of a course correction to balance its lineup with a mix of unknown characters and established IP.

A bad opening weekend might not necessarily spell doom for Pixar's latest–but a pattern is emerging that might shape what's to come from the beloved animation studio.
