A vacant hospital in northeast Detroit appears to have sold at auction for $1.25 million on Thursday, June 26.

The hospital site, which has been empty since 2007, has become something of an eyesore in the community. The new timeline indicates that work is expected to begin before the end of this summer.

She tells me the site of the hospital, closed since 2006, which is planned to become a new home and soccer stadium for Detroit City FC, is no place for exploration.

The Detroit City Football Club in 2024 acquired the site where the building stands with intentions to build a new stadium. The organization says the building has been abandoned for over 18 years.

The company had bought the hospital property in 2015. A three-day auction for the hospital building and its 13.3-acre site is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 24, and end Thursday, June 26.
