Newly minted city Detective Scott McDevitt is the grandson of Henry McDevitt, a detective in the Bronx who was killed when he fell from a ladder while responding to a burglary call June 26, 1977.

Boston Police Department Boston police Thursday bestowed a high honor on the department’s longest-tenured active-duty detective, presenting her with the No. 1 detective’s badge, officials said.
