At the time, Chi-Chi’s would only confirm that restaurants would open in 2025 without any specifics. But now, we finally know where the Chi-Chi’s revival will begin: at its roots.

Chi-Chi’s was founded in 1975 by Marno McDermott and former Green Bay Packers player Max McGee. It grew rapidly in the 1990s, reaching more than 200 locations nationwide.

The Chi-Chi’s branding, which is still used on packaged food and margaritas, will continue to be sold at stores. Hormel has made chips, salsas and other Chi-Chi’s products since the late 1980s.
