According to The New York Post, Tulare Lake, which first vanished back in the 19th century, has re-emerged, swallowing around 94,000 acres of farmland 130 years later after its initial disappearance.

State officials said they no longer expect communities near Tulare Lake to flood due in part to improving weather conditions and state efforts to raise levees.

It would have taken significantly more coordination with the state and local entities for that to occur, so this water, a lot of it just evaporated in Tulare Lake,” Levin said.
