Cortes' brother said the woman bought Crystal gifts and offered to buy her a car. He said they were together the night before the murder at his home, and said the two women were very close.

Cortes is charged with capital murder and is being held on $500,00 bond, according to the Dallas County Jail website. This is up from $250,000 reported previously.
