Funeral arrangements have been announced for the Coweta County Fire Rescue battalion chief who was shot and killed on Jan. 19 while helping a driver in Alabama who had struck a deer.
The backstory: Coweta County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Bartholomew Cauthen, 54, stopped on County Road 267 in Chambers County to help a driver who hit a deer.
The Coweta County Fire Department said Cauthen had been with the department for over 24 years. “He was an amazing, hard-working man with a gentle soul,” the department said.
