The Supreme Court handed the Department of Government Efficiency a pair of significant wins on Friday, allowing the entity to access sensitive Social Security data for millions of Americans while simultaneously pausing an effort to look into whether it is subject to a key transparency law.

The Supreme Court has handed the Trump administration two victories in cases involving the Department of Government Efficiency, including giving it access to Social Security systems containing personal data on millions of Americans.

The high court said a judge’s directive allowing a watchdog group to examine DOGE’s recommendations for cost savings at executive branch agencies was “not appropriately tailored.”
