Mr. Brienza stayed mostly in Miami until the early 2000s. After a brief stint in Los Angeles, he moved to New York in 2004 to tap into the city’s newly energized nightclub scene.

In addition to Market Hotel’s 2014 Tumblr party, the venue also hosts a Y2K party, a Eurodance party, an indie sleaze party titled “Sleaze Market,” and a Bad Bunny-themed rave on Easter weekend.

This renovated boutique hotel revives a building that dates back to 1911 and once housed the prestigious Chemists’ Club, a gathering place for scientific pioneers.

The designer for the rich and famous is making the leap to hospitality—and a wider American audience—by conjuring a private club in New York City’s Jane Hotel.
