A beloved tourist attraction in western North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains will be demolished starting later this month.

The tourist attraction landmark opened on an obsolete state bridge in 2013, drawing more than 150,000 visitors a year before Helene brought a powerful wall of debris.

It reopened on Thursday, Aug. 8, just over 10 months since the storm devastated much of Western North Carolina.
