UNDATED (WKRC) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has responded after post regarding a Waffle House identification card being the "realest ID" went viral.
The TSA has clarified that Waffle House IDs are not acceptable alternatives to REAL ID at airport security checkpoints. It was responding to a viral social media post with over 2.1 million views.
The REAL ID rule went into effect last month, meaning people must have a state ID card that complies with federal rules in order to fly or enter certain U.S. government buildings.
The TSA is clarifying that one type of identification — a Costco membership card — is in fact not a valid form of Real ID accepted at the airport security checkpoint.
