The National Park Service kicked off centennial celebrations last May, with Idaho Gov. Brad Little declaring May 2, 2024, as "Craters of the Moon Centennial Day" in the state.
POCATELLO — The Portneuf Valley Trails Alliance, a new 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, is hosting a free community kickoff event on May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Centennial Park in Pocatello.
Craters of the Moon will wrap up its centennial celebration with a running theme of “Expansive Night Sky,” a nod to the park’s designation as an International Dark Sky Park.
Thanks to their combined efforts, nearly 315,000 visitors traveled to Craters of the Moon during the Centennial year, a 22% increase from 2023 and a new all-time record for the park.
